Langar, the tradition of the free communal tradition in Sikhism, is a practice rooted in the teachings of Guru Nanak, the first Sikh Guru. This tradition was established to promote the principle of equality, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background, has access to a nourishing meal.
The concept of Langar goes far beyond simply providing food. It serves as a powerful symbol of the Sikh community's belief in social justice, humility, and the rehection of discrimination. In the Langar hall, people of all races, religions, and social standings sit together on the floor to share a meal, emphasizing the Sikh belief that all people are equal in the eyes of God.
OUR MISSION
AZ Langar on Wheels takes the Sikh belief of Langar and brings it to underserved communities throughout Arizona. We operate a licensed food truck and donate upwards of 400 meals per week to the homeless population in downtown Phoenix.
Our mission is to serve all communities throughout Arizona and bring hot, nutritious meals to everyone in need.
